Cartmel Fell & District Local History Society


About the Society:- Our meetings begin in September with monthly lectures and a Christmas dinner in The Punch Bowl, Underbarrow.  In January we have our A.G.M followed by a members’ night with individual contributions.  Lectures begin again in February until April and then we have 2 discovery outings in May and June.

All are welcome and meetings begin at 8.p.m. on the 2nd Monday of  the month. The Annual fee is £8 or £2 a meeting for non-members.
We meet in the Parish Hall, next to St. Anthony’s Church.

monuments and inscriptions found whilst fell walking

Cumbria’

14th March: David Smail ‘The Taylors of Thorphinsty Hall’

11th April:  Jeff Cowton of the Wordsworth Trust ‘Bertha
Necombe, illustrator of international & local fame’

14th May: Conducted tour of Haverigg & Millom Aviation Museum

11th June: Conducted tour of the Wordsworth Museum
